John Cummings
John Cummings educated at Clifton College, Bristol and prior
to joining the Army travelled in Europe and America. His GAP
Year was spent in America. During his time in the Army he
has travelled extensively both as a soldier and in his spare
time in Africa, the Middle East, Canada and Europe. Having
left the Army he is now ready to explore South America successfully.
Since leaving the Army he has become a Suzy Lamplugh Trust personal safety
at work tutor trainer and is working alongside the NHS in developing
personal safety strategies. As he still has the urge to travel his next trip
will be to South America.
“Spanner” Manley
“Spanner” Manley has served in the Army for
36 years all over the world. It was during his tour in Brunei
as a jungle warfare instructor that he became fascinated about
survival. He is well known throughout the South West having
worked alongside a number of schools and companies for his
infectious enthusiasm for life and his knowledge of survival.
Supremely fit, a former Army orienteering team member and
a man who has many tales to tell.
Chris Smart
Chris Smart has served in the Army for 22 years. A trained
mountain leader who has travelled to many dark corners of
the world, he has spent the majority of his career instructing
and in particular, survival techniques and unarmed combat.
Alice Curtis
Alice Curtis is currently studying at Exeter University.
She spent her GAP Year travelling in Thailand, Australia and
America on a round the world ticket. She has also toured Eastern
Europe and this summer she is climbing in Canada with the
British Army.

experiences in order for you to live and travel safely at
home and abroad.
